Bar / Bat Mitzvahs

Alex

The Bar Mitzvah boy was focused and had one request. No typical themes or cliché's for his background summer Bar Mitzvah celebration. Enter Someone’s In The Kitchen design team - first the casual interviews and honoree personality assessment - early discovery that Alex loves to SWIM. Step one accomplished - a splash of boy-influenced party focusing heavily on the elements of water, ice, and glass-but subtly packaged as a no theme design influence that would serve as the soul of the design conceptualization.

Traditional round tables were replaced with hitop metal-legged tables with cobalt blue glass tops-kids sat in aluminum barstools at these tables.

Anchoring the adult seating square tables were custom-designed all-ice globes that had captured and trapped blue & white swirled pool bouncy balls inside-more strong, but subtle reference to water.

High atop the white canopy framing the client’s backyard, a collection of a giant, oversize 3’, 4’, and 7’ round white and balloon spheres dominated the air-and created the illusion that monstrous water dewdrops had gathered overhead. Larger than life!

Our clients’ cozy backyard was converted into a super cool, edgy science experiment-where water and ice and glass collided to subtly remind Alex’s guests of his passion for swimming and his love of science and water.

Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend

Nothing shines brighter than a girl on her bat mitzvah, which is why it was so fitting that this jewel be delivered in a blue box so well known for containing brilliant objects. The birthday girl’s dramatic entrance in a Tiffany box matched her shining personality and the theme of her party – diamonds.

As the 200 guests made their way into the reception in the client’s Synagogue, it was as if 5-Star Kosher Catering/Someone’s in the Kitchen had designed a party to look like the inside of a flawless diamond. All facets of the party shone – from the twinkle lights that filled the ceiling to the clear floral vases filled with huge diamond-like crystals.

The kosher menu sparkled with imagination. During cocktails, guests were served martinis from a huge diamond, carved from ice. Neither shaken, nor stirred, the perfectly mixed martinis slid down a cold chute into awaiting glasses. Now that’s a cool martini!

Guest found their seats at tables named after a different size karat by picking up cards held in black velvet boxes and attached to “diamond” rings, bracelets and necklaces. At their tables, attendees found velvet ring boxes containing chocolates and at the girls’ seats, “diamond” gift bracelets did double-duty as napkin rings; the perfect gift for a girl’s best friends.

Butterflies Are Free

Walking under a huge floral monogram of the letter “N” let guests know they were entering Niki’s world, a world where butterflies are free and the color pink is plentiful.

With a deft touch as light as air, Someone’s in the Kitchen transformed this tented area into a party environment of color and whimsy. Trees filled with cherry blossoms lined the entrance and perimeter to give the room the feeling that spring had sprung inside the tent. And an ice bar in which hundreds of silk butterflies “flew” made for quite an ice breaker (no pun intended)!

No detail went unnoticed by Someone’s in the Kitchen who had brought in an artist to shape beautiful lime green napkins set at each place into a rose. On each rose a bejeweled pink butterfly rested for guests to wear and keep.

The sky was the limit in terms of décor, but the element of this event that truly made guests walk on air was the gourmet kosher dairy menu created by the catering company’s kosher division, 5-Star Kosher Catering.
